Mkango Resources is a company focused on exploring for rare earth elements and associated minerals in the Republic of Malawi. The company holds three prospecting licenses: the Phalombe licence, the Thambani licence (uranium, niobium, tantalum and zircon) and the Chimimbe Hill licence (nickel, cobalt). The most advanced project is the Songwe Hill rare earths' deposit, which is located within the Phalombe licence. The deposit is formed by a carbonatite hosted rare earth mineralisation and included historical exploration works dated since the 1980s. Mkango has completed an updated Pre-feasibility Study for the project in November 2015. The Bankable Feasibility study is in progress.
